Who we are
The Former Origin Greats (FOGS) ARTIE Academy, which stands for Achieving Results Through Indigenous Education, supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across Queensland through mentoring, encouragement and opportunity.
Founded in 2010, ARTIE was created to help address the gap in educational outcomes between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their non-Indigenous peers. Through positive support, recognition and connection, the program encourages students to stay engaged in school, build confidence and work towards their goals.
ARTIE works alongside schools, families and communities to create opportunities for young people to succeed. By recognising effort, rewarding attendance and celebrating achievement, the program helps students develop the skills and confidence needed to pursue future education, training and employment pathways.
Today, ARTIE operates in schools across Queensland, supporting thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students each year. Working in partnership with schools, communities, government agencies and supporters, ARTIE continues to create opportunities that help young people thrive.

ARTIE was founded on the belief that education creates opportunity. More than a decade later, that vision continues to guide the program and inspire the work being done in schools across Queensland every day.
Named in honour of Arthur Beetson OAM, the ARTIE Academy continues to carry forward his commitment to creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people through education, encouragement and support.
