WELCOME TO THE ARTIE ACADEMY
The ARTIE Academy Tutoring Program sees tertiary education students volunteering their time to attend ARTIE Academy schools with the aim of increasing the confidence and ability of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in their core learning areas.
As outlined in your course profile, students enrolled in EDUC2049 are required to complete field experience.
The ARTIE Academy links with UQ School of Education to provide you with an opportunity to complete the field experience in our schools. As an ARTIE Academy Tutor, your role will be to work in class with primarily Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, assisting them to keep on track with their class work and supporting them through the school term.
UQ Students are required to complete one (1) session per week for ten (10) weeks at their nominated ARTIE Academy School as well as attend the compulsory Professional Development Seminar held on Saturday, 27 July, therefore completing a mandatory eleven (11) sessions total of field experience.
Please be aware of the school term dates below, including any public holidays applicable to your schools. You will be required to make up any missed days due to holidays or illness to complete the course.

Sign Up Process
Step 1
Go to the web link provided on Blackboard and below.
Peruse the Times and Schools available as well as considering travel time prior to Sign Up.
Times will be available to view from Monday July 8
Web link will go live from 3:00pm Tuesday July 16

Points to consider prior to selecting a session in Step 3.

- University Timetable
- Work commitments
Have all required information at the ready for Sign Up including valid Blue Card number, mobile phone, email address.
Step 3
Once you have decided on a session all you need to do is tick the session you would like and then click the black box ‘select your item, then click here to enter your name’. ONLY TICK ONE SESSION.
This will open a new page for you to input your contact details. It is important that you enter the correct information as the majority of correspondence is via email and SMS.
Step 4
Click the black box ‘Sign Me Up’ to complete sign up process. You will receive a confirmation email.
Please note: As there are some schools with limited availability and to be fair to all students, Sign Up will be on a first come first served basis. If you do not receive a confirmation email, your sign up has not been successful and you need to complete it again.
You must enrol in a tutoring session before 5:00pm Friday July 19
ARTIE Academy Tutor Professional Development Seminar
This event is compulsory for all EDUC2409 students prior to beginning Tutoring Sessions.
The session counts towards the total number of visits necessary to complete this subject.
